Another cultural/lifestyle rant that is probably going to piss people off

Seriously, what is the fucking point of owning a pet? Sure, dogs could be useful if you own a farm or are disabled, but they, along with cats are fucking useless and are a burden to the common household.

Just consider these points:

* They provide no benefit. You give them all the love and attention. You spend money on pet food, toys, training, trips to the vet, etc, but you get NOTHING in return.
* They destroy furniture and piss and shit everywhere. It could take months to years just to train them properly, at least for dogs anyway. Cats are virtually untrainable.
* Even if you do train them, they will still shed fur everywhere which adds extra cleaning.
* Pets can carry diseases and pests like fleas, ticks, and bedbugs. You are wasting your time and money on a literal health risk.
* They can't understand human language. You need to raise your voice and show body language to get them to listen to you. This is difficult for someone who is mostly monotone like me.
* They are a burden to guests. Dogs are territorial and xenophobic by nature. They will bark and growl at anyone they deem outsiders. There even have been times where I came over to people's places and the house owners had to lock their dogs in the garage or basement just because how violent they are.
* Dogs on average live for 13 years. For cats, that's 15. With human children, they grow up and become independent adults and you as a parent feel accomplished. Pets literally live shorter lives than a human childhood and give you no sense of accomplishment. I don't get why so many people who can't have children or fall for the overpopulation scam get pets instead of adopting children. Having a pet is the equivalent of raising a severely retarded child who won't make it to adolescence.

With all these points, I can't see any reason for the average household to own a pet. They are nothing but a burden. For the love of God, just have children or adopt. You won't get anything from having an animal wondering around your house. In fact, it actually sounds really weird when you think about it, so just don't do it.

Another cultural/lifestyle rant that is probably going to piss people off

Okay, time for a follow up rant. I don't understand why dogs are sometimes loved and valued even more than humans. Though the only people who would openly admit to it are misanthropic, vegan leftists who support the VHEMT, but most dog lovers also fall into this category. Here are some points to consider:

* People get offended by violence towards dogs even more so than violence towards humans. For example, Nintendo had to force ID Software to replace the Nazi guard dogs with rats in the SNES version of Wolfenstein 3D. There's other media that had similar censorship but I can't think of any off the top of my head.
* Some of the most tear-jerking books and films involve dogs dying. People die all the time in books and films but dog deaths always get people more for whatever reason.
* You see more commercials and advertisements from non-profits asking to donate to help stray dogs or adopt animals from an animal shelter than you see commercials asking the same for orphaned, human children. It seems like people would rather help stray dogs than human children who have no parents.
* Dog fighting is illegal in most places, but boxing is not.

@xianc78 The two biggest reasons to have a pet are either living out in the country or to play with your kids. The dead-egger "fur baby" shit is a corruption of the natural order, in which pets do in fact have a place.

@ArdainianRight The playing with your kids part is still iffy though. It depends on how old and mature your children are. It could be a good learning opportunity to teach them responsibility, but I would wait until they are at least seven, just given how dangerous dogs can be.

@xianc78 Don't be retarded and just pick a breed that's not a pitbull.
I'MMA SLAP YAW WHOLE FACE YAW TRYNA MAKE ME FINNA BOUTTA YAW HEAR ME YET WHYBOY YAW GON DIE TONIGHT :hk_dance:

re: Another cultural/lifestyle rant that is probably going to piss people off

@ArdainianRight @xianc78 what are your recommended breeds

re: Another cultural/lifestyle rant that is probably going to piss people off

@somethinggeneric @xianc78 I'm not a dog person, I just know that pitbulls are by far the most dangerous breed for obvious reasons.

@ArdainianRight @xianc78 Animals CAN replace children. Honestly, why raise children when you can take care of a flightless bee like this woman did?

@xianc78 companionship, mainly. and utility, particularly for hunters/farmers. farm cats are a thing for a reason, they keep all the little pests that munch on stuff out.

i like cats because i like them sitting on my lap and purring. it's nice.

@xianc78 in tradition they are useful. Dogs are great guard/alarms and can be trained help manage cattle and sheep. Cats are excelent hunters and help control rats and other small animals like spiders.

But yeah, in modern culture they are useless emotional cluches for lonelly people.

re: Another cultural/lifestyle rant that is probably going to piss people off

@xianc78 Most of it begins and ends with "doggo cute."
It's really not that complicated.
:tobdog:
Although I think the last point about boxing is kind of a false equivalency. There's a big difference between drugging/abusing another creature into violently fighting another one, potentially to the death, with the threat of starvation and or death if they don't do it; and two professional athletes mutually consenting to fight each other for money.
