I get that Europeans like it because they're faggots, but when an American says they want to switch to metric it seems like such a betrayal.

@alcade Metric doesn't have an equivalent to feet which makes it awkward to measure the height of people. Either you are hundreds of centimeters tall or 1 or two meters tall.

Imperial measurement names also just roll of the tongue better. "Don't move an inch" sounds better than "don't move a centimeter".

@xianc78 @alcade "awkward to measure" bro, you have to combine two completely separate units to sensibly measure height

@applejack @alcade People do the same thing with time (eg 1 minute 3 seconds).

@xianc78 I honestly don't care what system the Eurofags use. I think whatever you're raised with will probably become the easiest in your mind. But I think Americans simping for metric are only doing so for virtue signal points.

@xianc78 @alcade you can just say you are 1.68 meters tall or whatever

@xianc78 @alcade No wonder I have trouble remembering a song where a metric unit was mentioned. It's song titles like "A Thousand Miles" or "More Bounce to the Ounce" that can easily be recalled. Even a Scottish band's hit song used an imperial unit through "I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)" since that sounded catchier.
