Higher skill trades are also sort h1b proof. It's really hard to outsource that knowledge. My company is owned by Indians and they tried but found that actually making money is more important than hiring their 200 cousins from Mumbai.
I'm not saying there aren't shitty welders just that it's still an area where you can make a go at it
I understand. I wasted my late 20s-30s trying to get into graphics and visual communications. Got told my work was excellent but there were 10 people ahead of me with more experience and credentials. Then tried to do game dev but the team I pulled together was more about the idea than the work and it fell apart.
