Love this video promoting the free state, other than the conservative stance on ID checks at the polls at least. Don't get pulled in by stupid republican politics. As a whole libertarians want freedom including open boarders, free trade, and if your physically here on voting day you should be able to vote. It doesn't matter if your 5 years old or 105, white, black, or mixed, gay, straight, bi, or something else entirely. My "legalize gay marijuana" t-shirt sums it up perfectly.

There is no consensus amongst self-described libertarians that borders should be open.

> and if your physically here on voting day you should be able to vote

Or that.

You can of course say that other libertarians are Actually Republicans, and they can say you're Actually Democrat, and then what... Only possible way forward is to accept that libertarianism is more broadly defined than you'd wish...
@cjd @mr_penguin this may be the craziest take I've ever encountered.
Which one?
1. His assertion that no libertarian believes in borders
2. My assertion that there exist self-described libertarians that do
3. My claim that pointing fingers and saying "not real libertarian" is unproductive
@cjd @mr_penguin most libertarians believe in borders. Libertarians support open borders: the free movement of people and property across lines of government jurisdiction. Closed borders is one of the most authoritarian practices of governments in the 21st century.
@cjd @mr_penguin some Libertarians hold positions on pet issues that are not libertarian, but there can be no argument that open borders is the only libertarian position. It also happens to be the only moral position, the only Christian position, and the most utilitarian position.

I have mixed opinions about open borders. I'm not a big fan of low trust society, BUT if mass migration brings Sharia Law to Europe (which is highly likely) then it's worth it to save Europe from population collapse caused by suicidal libertinism.

@cjd @fu @mr_penguin Would you be okay with open borders, but have Hoppean-style covenant communities for people who only want to associate with certain groups?

I think if people want to form covenant communities, that's cool and they should have that right - but then those communities will probably want a hard border, if for no other reason because they don't want burglars to enter.

I think the coolest possible future would be a world of hundreds of thousands of Lichtenstein-sized kingdoms, each one run in a different way. Then people can decide where they want to live from amongst the kingdoms which are willing to accept them - kind of like joining Fedi instances.
@fu @cjd @mr_penguin @xianc78 individuals have a right to act like douchebags, that doesn't mean I'm OK with douchebags.
