So, let's recap on the most recent "peace talks" proposal:

> Russia refuses any ceasefire until after "negotiations"
> Russia proposes "direct negotiations" in Turkey
> Russia hints that Putin will go
> Ukraine agrees to negotiations and says Zelensky will go
> Trump says he will go if Putin goes
> Putin says he won't go
> Zelensky goes anyway
> Zelensky is angry that Putin did not go
> Russia insults Zelensky, calling him "pathetic", a "clown" and a "loser"

Dude.

Why is the Russian government like this? Why?

The Russians didn't even send any high-level representatives.

They sent low-level representatives who can only push demands and not change them. They can't "directly negotiate" (as the Russian government claims they could).

The whole thing is a sham designed so that Putin can claim Zelensky is the one being obstinate, even though he was the one who went to the "direct negotiations" and represents the highest level of the Ukrainian state!

This is so absurd.

@Aldo2 Idk if you watch star trek but russia is like the Pakleds. Very stupid yet somehow powerful and not destroyed yet, they maxed their luck stat.

@Jazzy_Butts I don't think it's "luck". It's more "obedience" or "servility". It's annoying, because I don't like to say it. Pro-Western people have been using it as a sort of racial insult ("the Russians are slave-like").

But I'm struggling to find another explanation. The lies and obfuscations are too obvious, yet the Russian public just accept it.

An honest "neutral" (even though they've been basically playing into the pro-Russian hands the same way Jill Stein plays into Republican hands during elections) wouldn't be able to accept this. Imagine saying that the Russians still "want peace" and then seeing them openly making a mockery of "peace negotiations" while the so-called "belligerent" one (Ukraine, who you were demanding to negotiate) is sincere.

The Russians are the only people who seemingly would accept such lunacy. I understand the whole "if they protested they'd trip and fall out of the 10th floor window", but there gets a point when enough is enough.

I maintain that the only way this ends is if a brave Russian makes the decision to take out Putin.
