A few weeks ago I had a phone conversation with a friend of mine, and the subject of AI came up.

We both found it funny that university students now are using AI to write their weekly reading-reports or to help with their theses.

In our day, you actually had to do the research yourself. You had to spend time reading things, learning things, thinking for yourself etc...

Nowadays, none of that is really necessary. If you have a good enough AI program, you can get it to write your papers for you and then all you have to do is make slight aesthetic edits to it to make it seem like it was written by a human.

AI is basically making people dumb. It is eliminating our capacity for cognition by outsourcing it to a robot.

I'm not saying all AI is 100% bad, but the overreliance on it to "do all the work" as of late is deeply worrying.

I use AI for porn or to write a letter of motivation for a job application. That is penuts compared to using it for writing research papers or using it to help "win" wars.
