Douglas Murray makes a very keen observation at this point.

So much of this comes down to this: What exactly is trans? Now, I knew I was in the wrong sex long before puberty (that’s not always the case, mind you, but in mine it was) so I have no doubt at all that its a hardware issue. The science — of which I have a multitude of sources — points this way very clearly. We’re born fucked up like this, shitty deal. But the “software” side, the “tucutes” who claim that a haircut is enough to change your gender, overwhelming speak over the people who have the actual condition.

Here is the problem: The tucutes and other gender radicals are the enemy of transsexual people, pure and simple. A dangerous, vile enemy at that. If they get their way, then my suffering was all just a “fun choice, maybe a political statement”, they want the science on the topic ignored and censored — I need that damn science, its that damn science that gives me the ability to get my condition treated as best as we can. Without that science, I would have not been able to transition at all and I’d likely be dead now. Tucutes are the true, real, genuine authentic transphobes. Some guy who doesn’t want to date me isn’t, even someone who just thinks we are all perverts; sure, he’s irritating, but he’s not a threat in the scheme of things.

Demedicalizing my condition is an extreme threat both in terms of treatment and acceptance by society. Tucutes want to do this to make their political point. Fuck them.

NOW — in the Video Douglas makes the statement that around 80% of children diagnosed as trans just turn out to be gay. This is 100% false. He’s made a mistake here. The study he is quoting included children who didn’t meet the diagnostic criteria for being trans. This study gets thrown around constantly as a way to prevent trans treatment for youths — the best, most effective time for treatment. When you examine the study, the number of children who did meet the diagnostic criteria was actually 0.

If this was an option for me, I could have just lived my life as a (mostly) normal woman and been able to just skip the whole trans thing. How great that would have been you’ll never understand.

Anyway, I generally like Douglas but his data on trans stuff is about a decade out of date. Even so, he’s an even thinker. Anyway that’s enough for this ranty post.
