My lenovo laptop got dropped and it doesn't work anymore, it barely boots, I managed to get files off which which had to be a 1 in a million chance because I haven't been able to recreate that, now every time I boot it, it's all glitched out and crashes after a few minutes, I wish I knew computer so I could at least try to fix it, make it a learning experience.

@Jazzy_Butts that's a bummer. If you need to get files off of it and have another pc I'd recommend just getting the drive out and connecting it to the pc somehow, whether you need a sata adapter or a USB external enclosure. If you dropped the thing and it doesn't work anymore, it might be more trouble to fix than it's worth.

@Jazzy_Butts it kind of looks like it may be either the drive or the mobo connection to the drive got messed up in some way though, so I'm not gonna say that's a surefire way of getting files back. Likewise, getting a new drive or even a windows reinstall could be good enough. If your bios are working then that's a good sign that the mobo may not be damaged.

When there is a hardware problem like that, though, it's really hard to tell what the best solution is with software. You'd have to crack it open and look at the drive to see if there is any obvious damage and go from there.

@beardalaxy Since I got all my non replaceable stuff off, I might as well see what a factory reset does I guess?

@Jazzy_Butts go for it then, it's not like anything will blow up.

(for legal reasons I am required to say that isn't a guarantee)
