Idk much about animation so feel free to enlighten me, but it seems like rotoscoping is almost like the AI thing going in with art right now. I see so much rotoscoped shit that has a lot of visual inconsistencies. Hands clipping through stuff (including the body they belong to) or weird artifacts. The only time I've seen it done really well in recent memory is in FAITH.

Rotoscoping is misunderstood, it can be abused, but used conservatively it is what gave us Loony Tunes and Disney

@Jazzy_Butts i know it can be used well to great effect and used subtly with the aid of a lot of other hand animation and such. but there's just a lot of purely rotoscoped shit (coming from an outsiders perspective) that looks almost like people are just acting out a scene in front of a camera, putting a filter over it for hank hill or whatever, and not even looking at it before uploading it.

@beardalaxy Yea that shit is low effort garbage. Rotoscoping is just tracing, and what is tracing but very accurate referencing, as long as liberties are taken where the artist wants, I think it's elevated above the low effort product that gives the tool a bad name.
