You don't solve problems just by outright criminalizing them.

You don't stop crime by increasing the punishments for it.

All this ends up doing is creating an endless wave of criminals that overburden a stretched prison system (public and private).

A focus on punitive justice also leads to thinking that having high arrest-rates is a good thing, when in reality it shows the failure of the system.

It's Soviet (Stalinist) at its core:

"Quantity has a quality all of its own"

Punishing more people = good

Punishing fewer people = bad

Coming to terms with my sexuality has made me recognize the massive flaws in the prioritization that Western societies put on punitive justice.

There are zero "good" or "bad" deeds that are inherent to your age, skin/color/sexuality/gender/etc

It is such horseshit that beings actually think of dogshit like "You're black, therefore you're probably gonna rob me! You just haven't had the chance yet"

And that is the SAME rhetoric that you can see in other places too :inspect

Watch less to unsupervised children who haven't been taught to be aggressive when left alone.

Zero fucks given they happily play with anyone, including an adult willing to set aside programming and ignore the us/them shit we start teaching children as soon as they are born by our actions as the adults feeding their hungry mind.

i do believe in reclaiming slurs in the way that "queer" has been, because it stopped actually being a slur. but if something is still considered a slur and has limited usage then it clearly means it's offensive and has no particular use and the gatekeeping of a word based on traits is still discriminationcore and weird. it leads to the further division of people based on arbitrary identities
