Why do I get the feeling that the computer world is going to get more proprietary restrictions from this bullshit ?

That's the official taught reason, but if you dig into historical facts there was a delay of a few days before the surrender and that's because the japs we estimating if it was possible to still resist an American invasion while the Russians we coming from the north. Turn it they couldn't so they surrendered.
Note: the delay was also extended because of the structural damages the bombs caused.
