Exactly.
While economics of green decisions etc can be debated, letting SUCH A HUGE NUMBER OF MUSLIMS enter europe is beyond evil.

I'd like to add a few things about Merkel.
First, remember that under her leadership all semblance of free speech in Germany has been eliminated. If you have anything negative to say about immigration (not even necessarily something directed at Muslims themselves) on sites like Facebook, you have a good chance to wake up with the police at your door.

Second, you know how everyone complains about how Putin managed to get himself 4 terms of presidency? Well, apparently people keep forgetting that Merkel has had just as many. People voting for the same person and party over and over again in Russia is highly suspect and proof that it isn't a democracy, but when the same thing happens in Germany nobody bats an eye.

@alyx

I'm convinced at this point that most "democracy" isn't real. And probably worse than absolute monarchy on many levels.

The problem I've personally identified in Europe regarding democracy, is that neither the people nor the politicians seem to understand what the role of the democratic process should be in a state.

EU has made extreme efforts in promoting democracy and the rule of law as the goals to strive for within the union, especially to the ex-soviet parts of EU. Merkel and co. love to bludgeon us on the head with propaganda that these need to be the goals of any EU country. But this is completely backwards in my view.

Democracy and the rule of law SHOULDN'T be the goals you strive for. Some of the worst countries in the world have democratic elections, without helping them get any better. As for the rule of law, Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union had a rule of law too, it's just that the laws were corrupt and unjust. So once again rule of law alone solves nothing.

I think Americans got it right though. The goals for a society should be liberty and the pursuit of happiness. And democracy should be nothing more than a tool to use in pursuit of those goals. And if at some point it turns out you can ditch democracy for something else, and doing so achieves more liberty and happiness for the people, then ditching democracy is something that should be done.

So my conclusion is not that democracy isn't real, or that it doesn't work, it's just that people are using it wrong and then trying to blame the tool, as every shoddy worker will do.

It is a tool, and it IS used correctly.

It is just a dumb assumption, that a role of a government is to stabilize society. It is not.

Government is the biggest mafia on the block. And mafia has only 2 goals. Collect the money, and keep other mafias out of their territory.
