Seriously, can someone explain to me the obsession with tipping in restaurants?

I get I can tip people if they do something special, but weitress is a job like literally any other.

@LukeAlmighty@gameliberty.club in America, waitresses are notoriously underpaid and each restaurant makes use of tipping to argue that they earn enough.
Some countries see tipping as an insult (indirect way of saying to get a real job or something)

I personally tip if I think the service was nice, but I don't tip as much as some other people do. Usually up to 3 Euro.

Though in Germany, tipping isn't done by everyone either.

Man, I get the point of tipping. About a week ago, I tipped 50 percent in a restaurant, but that was, because they were open on a holiday.

But when it comes to weitress being underpayed, that goes directly to the "not my problem" category.

And not as in "I don't care", but why the fuck do they work a job, that would be categorized as illegal by default? If they didn't resolve this before signing, then my charity only goes to support that shit. No, thank you.
