@Jim Can we have one new release that isn't a massive disappointment?

@TheMaskettaMan @Jim
This is gaming now. Get used to only playing retro games my friend.

People be like:
Steam deck isn't strong enough, because it cannot max Cyberpunk.

Bruh, I am playing 10 year old games there. And you won't be playing AAA shit either. And you know it.

@LukeAlmighty @alyx @TheMaskettaMan @Jim yeah idgi why not PC game if you want better graphics and use a steam deck if you want portability

@e @alyx @Jim @TheMaskettaMan
Then you should know, that Steam deck CAN run PC games.

Your question is weird at best.

@LukeAlmighty @alyx @Jim @TheMaskettaMan I said "why not PC game" as in "why not game on your PC". I'm aware that the steam deck can play PC games. PC games =/= PC gaming
> =/= PC gaming
This was true up to the Steam Deck's launch. Welcome to the new PC paradigm.

Steam deck is literally a PC.
I seriously don't get why do people not get the concept.

And yeah, I do have a big one to play real games on. (like factorio for example) But they are both PCs with common library and even shared saves.

For example, I play MonsterHunter Rise on BOTH depending on how I feel at the moment.

@LukeAlmighty @alyx @e @Jim @TheMaskettaMan Not to mention how much of an absolute upgrade the Deck is compared to the majority of Desktop PC's. I upgraded a former sub's FX 6600 gaming desktop PC with a 1050ti to a Steam Deck a couple of weeks ago. She's seen noticeable performance increases. Smooth transition of desktop/settings/documents, as she has used Arch/KDE since about 2014. Final Fantasy XIV, Risk of Rain 2, and Deep Rock Galactic all run far better now.

Anyone that asks me for advice on a midrange computer to buy, I tell them "Buy a Steam deck, dock, and 1080p monitor". I wasn't doing that a year ago.

@bot
But to answer, the deck is as powerful as modern consoles, so unless the game is known for breaking GPUs, it should be fine.

Also, the game is verified.

@bot @LukeAlmighty @alyx @Jim @TheMaskettaMan @anornymorse remember all the times you harangued people calling gamers scum @bot because you lack the ability to put yourself in other people's shoes?

I think people are doing the same distinction between desktop PC and Deck as they do between desktop and laptop.

They're all a x86 compatible computers, but you still have different expectations when it comes to performance between all the 3. And because of the Deck's size, people automatically think of it much less than even a laptop. But in reality it is just a laptop without a dedicated GPU. And I think people are used to the idea of integrated GPUs being shit, but in reality they've grown quite capable, especially on the AMD side.
I've got an AMD laptop myself, and purposefully disabling it's dedicated GPU and trying games on it's integrated one has been a fun hobby for me lately.

@alyx @anornymorse @e @Jim @TheMaskettaMan
Yeah, I can understand that.
While I have seen some amazing laptops, I have also seen one of my laptop get so slowed down, it could no longer handle original counter strike.
(I have no idea what happened, and I don't care much to find out)
