@LukeAlmighty he's insane, I don't think he knows how to convey his feelings very well or with any tact whatsoever. That's always been the case with kanye. Doesn't mean he's wrong, though.
A good deal of the founding fathers of the USA and plenty of philosophers, scientists, and creatives over the years have been insane too.
I think the people who hate what kanye is saying would have hated it regardless by default, but the number of people he's reaching isn't zero. Speaking truth will piss people off and wake people up, it's just tangential that kanye happens to be pretty wacky.
A lot of people are damaged by the music industry and just being famous in general so I think kanye is no exception. He's having a crisis of realization of that fact. When you have been manipulated and lied to for a huge chunk of your life it's very distressing, and there isn't really a way to get help that won't amount to just being numbed to it all or people trying to convince you that your realizations are wrong.
It's why a lot of people kind of drop off the deep end when they leave religion, or for me I stayed in the religion and wanted to kill myself. Difference between a manic and a depressive reaction I suppose.
You can only abuse a person for so long until they snap.
