But I don't see the reason for it being free, mandatory, or cover the kids entire nutrition needs for the day.

Yes, I do take libertarianism quite seriously, although definitely not the "nap" bullshit or the anarchist position.

A government should take care to build and protect infrastructure etc. But it should not be working as a charity. That only leads to creating a parasitic voting blocks.

I am not even sure If I like democracy to begin with. :ablobcatsweatsip:

@LukeAlmighty I've got some lolbert tendencies but I'm far from an absolutist on the subject. For example, I think food security is a big deal and that we should be very hesitant to cut people off of it, children especially. This should not be treated as something terribly abstract, like from a budgetary perspective or something. Denying kids food is a visceral, real topic.

I am saying, that if a kid is not fed by the family, it might be safer in a foster home at that point.

Kids have to eat. Obviously. But the OP was saying, that parents should have no responsibility to do so. And that was sickening.

@LukeAlmighty That's fair. I think the kids should be given a pass, and that what to do about the parents and custody and so forth should be more a matter of circumstance than a blanket policy. If parents can't acquire food for their kids in good times, that usually merits bringing the hammer down on them over it. But if you're in the middle of a famine or something, it's much more forgivable for those people to go hungry.
