think i might try this backlog method out. essentially, it's taking the metacritic scores and dividing them by how long it takes to beat the game, which gives you a "quality per hour" figure. i think i would multiply this by a scale from 1 to 10 on how much i actually want to play the game (which i'll do before seeing the quality score) to get a decent idea of where i should start because, right now, i have no idea what i should play next. i've got tears of the kingdom and system shock to look forward to and that's about it until september with starfield, and i won't even be playing it at launch.

i do wanna play the sweetest monster sequel too soon, it's just a matter of making sure i've got money to buy it :) backlog is gonna' have games i already own on it with a bit of emulation too perhaps.

that said, if you have any games that are in that emulation territory that are really good games, let me know!

@beardalaxy
I am not sure I like the idea.
I have 500h in Factorio. That would put the game wayyyyyyy beyond even the trashiest of games.

Why not enjoy the gems, that actually do deserve the time?

@LukeAlmighty it's about tackling the backlog, playing and finishing games you really want to get off your backlog. so, prioritizing shorter games will shrink the backlog pretty fast.

having this list isn't a "you must play these games in this order" either, but it does help sort things out a little bit to help you prioritize things :)

i'm the kind of person who usually gets antsy when a game goes beyond 6-8 hours, too. there are very few exceptions to that. i prefer shorter, tighter experiences, so this list works for me pretty well!

i'm gonna' try sweeping up metroid prime and onirism first because i haven't played either in a while, then i need to move on to ratchet and clank rift apart because my roommate who owns the ps5 is gonna be moving out soon.

but after that i'm going for a bird story, then skylar & plux. little bit further down the list are some touhou games, snake pass, and observer.

@LukeAlmighty it's nice to have it listed out like this too because i can still sort by time or my rating on how much i wanted to play it. so if i'm looking for a bit of a longer game i can look for that instead.

@LukeAlmighty another thing to keep in mind is that i'm not putting a bunch of utter shit on my list lol, they are all games i'm pretty interested in and genuinely want to play eventually.
