I actually like the idea of a commie block. Yeah, it is definitelly not a perfect solution, and when your neighbour is bad, it sucks 10 times more in here, but the advantage of housing 100s of people right in the middle of the city does in fact give you a unique kind of lifestyle. (It especially helps with travel times to work for example.)

@LukeAlmighty its useful when you need to house a ton of people for cheap. although the concrete in Slovakia's panel housing is starting to hit EOL.

@icedquinn
Yeah, the maintanance is a real issue. But I believe, that kinda falls into the "first try" kinda problem. If the commie blocks were build with a bit more investment, and a few iterations of design, I am sure they could hold for centuries in the same way as normal houses do.

@LukeAlmighty @icedquinn what are you talking about? I've never seen a crumbling commieblock in my entire life. Not once. Most of the commieblocks I've seen were barely even weathered

increase the garden area per housea bit (or just move the house to the front and have the backyard be decently sized) and the bottom one is way superior despite its downsides

yeah it does.

you don't know your neighbour and you will try to eat them if shit hits the fan.

@mk @LukeAlmighty I appreciate the fact that I don't hear sirens all the time and that we don't run the risk of bothering our neighbors if we're reasonably loud. You can't even watch a movie at 10pm with good bass if you live in an apartment.
