No, you don't get it.
The wide-spread IT education, free software, pre-made free game engines and distribution networks are making it MORE expensive to make a game.

"Stop spending millions on advertising and celebrity voice actors"

"Shut up chud making games is hard"
@LukeAlmighty @Kyonko802 @LukeAlmighty i hate how videogames were supposed to be a completely new tipe of media that stood out for it's fun and interactive aspect but instead it ended up becoming into some sort of bizzarro copy of cinema without the chance for any of the possible depth that a movie script could have

it's all just wasted potential

@mario @Kagekokoro @rlier23 @LukeAlmighty The PS2 library was full of bangers and now the consoles don't get shit. Three of those are indies and the other one is made by one of the few AAA devs left that still knows what they're doing.

The PS5 has one exclusive and Sony is killing every studio that's worth a damn. Capcom is spiraling into their document plan. Phil Spencer doesn't know what the hell he's doing and the xbox hardly has anything going for it aside from Game Pass, and their big saving grace looter shooter is a mess on release.

There will always be good games, but you cannot sit here and tell me the industry isn't a shadow of what it once was just because there are. It is nothing like it once was.
>consoles
I think there lies the problem.

>There will always be good games
So why not focus on those ones?

>the industry isn't a shadow of what it once was
There have always been cash grabs :grand_dad:
Your nostalgia is ignoring all the bad movie-based games for the PS2
@LukeAlmighty @mario @Kagekokoro @LukeAlmighty @Kyonko802
>there have always been crashgrabs
no shit, tell me did those cashgrabs were praised and propped up by the big players in the industry?
TLOU2 was trash and it still got elevated
mh RISE was a decent game sure but it still pales in comparison to its predecesors
the new god of war is half of the time a walking simulator and the other half a bland as fuck hack and slash with half baked rpg mechanics

the saints row reboot was a colossal trashfire
and yet there is still the Souls Series, tons of amazing indie experiences, awesome experimental games and also good AAA games. :cirno_shrug:
@LukeAlmighty @mario @Kagekokoro @LukeAlmighty @Kyonko802 and for that amount of good games there's 10 times more trash that outsells them
sounds like good-old need and demand, doesn't it?
luckily there are more games than ever to chose from for every niche interest :blobcathappy:
@LukeAlmighty @mario @Kagekokoro @LukeAlmighty @Kyonko802 and most of them will fail because of how niche they are, the devs will never make any new game or theyll be absorbed by a bigger company and then forced to make another bland and generic looking game thus joining the trends
And what about good niche games? :think_nyan:
Undertale was pretty successful and that's Game Maker :blobcatgoogly:

I am so sick of healing all the Undertale plot twists and themes.

Why even play a game, where you know exactly the main point already?
