@Kyonko802
No, you don't get it.
The wide-spread IT education, free software, pre-made free game engines and distribution networks are making it MORE expensive to make a game.

@LukeAlmighty

"Stop spending millions on advertising and celebrity voice actors"

"Shut up chud making games is hard"

@Kyonko802
Well, I am still considering buying the Anvanced warfare because of 1 actor...

But it's call of duty.

@LukeAlmighty @Kyonko802 @LukeAlmighty i hate how videogames were supposed to be a completely new tipe of media that stood out for it's fun and interactive aspect but instead it ended up becoming into some sort of bizzarro copy of cinema without the chance for any of the possible depth that a movie script could have

it's all just wasted potential

@LukeAlmighty @Kagekokoro @Kyonko802 @LukeAlmighty i have given up on anything new, nowadays i ust keep sinking hours into old ass games
@mario @Kagekokoro @rlier23 @LukeAlmighty The PS2 library was full of bangers and now the consoles don't get shit. Three of those are indies and the other one is made by one of the few AAA devs left that still knows what they're doing.

The PS5 has one exclusive and Sony is killing every studio that's worth a damn. Capcom is spiraling into their document plan. Phil Spencer doesn't know what the hell he's doing and the xbox hardly has anything going for it aside from Game Pass, and their big saving grace looter shooter is a mess on release.

There will always be good games, but you cannot sit here and tell me the industry isn't a shadow of what it once was just because there are. It is nothing like it once was.
>consoles
I think there lies the problem.

>There will always be good games
So why not focus on those ones?

>the industry isn't a shadow of what it once was
There have always been cash grabs :grand_dad:
Your nostalgia is ignoring all the bad movie-based games for the PS2
@mario @Kagekokoro @rlier23 @LukeAlmighty You are retarded. Yes there were cash grabs, but they're the majority now.

"Hurr durr consoles there's your problem"

Yes it's a fucking problem, more console games used to be good, and now that AAA mentality is bleeding into the PC market. But you're a fucking furry so of course you can't read or see trends.
@mario @Kagekokoro @rlier23 @LukeAlmighty This is my main hobby, I don't like it when cucks pretend it's not on a downturn. I want it to be fixed but useful idiots like you prevent it.
good luck trying to save the video-game industry while i'm having fun dating fluffybutts in visual novels :blobcatlaugh:
@LukeAlmighty @mario @Kagekokoro @LukeAlmighty @Kyonko802
>there have always been crashgrabs
no shit, tell me did those cashgrabs were praised and propped up by the big players in the industry?
TLOU2 was trash and it still got elevated
mh RISE was a decent game sure but it still pales in comparison to its predecesors
the new god of war is half of the time a walking simulator and the other half a bland as fuck hack and slash with half baked rpg mechanics

the saints row reboot was a colossal trashfire
and yet there is still the Souls Series, tons of amazing indie experiences, awesome experimental games and also good AAA games. :cirno_shrug:
@LukeAlmighty @mario @Kagekokoro @LukeAlmighty @Kyonko802 and for that amount of good games there's 10 times more trash that outsells them
sounds like good-old need and demand, doesn't it?
luckily there are more games than ever to chose from for every niche interest :blobcathappy:
@LukeAlmighty @mario @Kagekokoro @LukeAlmighty @Kyonko802 and most of them will fail because of how niche they are, the devs will never make any new game or theyll be absorbed by a bigger company and then forced to make another bland and generic looking game thus joining the trends
And what about good niche games? :think_nyan:
Undertale was pretty successful and that's Game Maker :blobcatgoogly:

@Kagekokoro @rlier23 @mario @Kyonko802
I am so sick of healing all the Undertale plot twists and themes.

Why even play a game, where you know exactly the main point already?

@rlier23 @mario @Kagekokoro @Kyonko802 @LukeAlmighty I like MH Rise. My issues with it have nothing to do with overall modern trends. I think all the QoL improvements were great and they addressed many issues that MH has had. The most important one being the reason you even have a big map and don't just have arena quests (with maybe a side room for safety) incentivizing "foreplay" with quest specific buffs, props and a using monsters to ride and fight the target monster makes it that exploration doesn't feel like as much of a chore.

The MH series itself is a fucking shitshow of confused design statements and vestiges. But it still carried on because there was something good about it DESPITE all these issues. As time goes on, we learn. I see no reason to be pessimistic. Nothing that is old that is good is truly lost.

My issue with MH: Rise is that Charge Blade sucks. But... that could be because 4th gen introduced such drastically different weapons like CB and IG that were such crazy gamechangers, it made users of the more traditional weapons jealous. So you see how they tried to democritize it by nerfing them and also doling out aspects of these weapons in hunter styles in Monster Hunter Generations/Cross.

Why did they have to do that? Maybe it's because Longsword boomers were complaing. So in effect... my one issue with NEWER Monster Hunter games was the result of oldfags.

Pessimism is gay.
@PonyPanda @Kagekokoro @rlier23 @LukeAlmighty @Kyonko802 I had tons of fun playing MonHun with @Kagekokoro even if the games have some issues.
World used to crash after the end credits when showing a fcking Ad for the DLC, we had to go through the (unskippable) credits like 5 times before i was finally able to click out of the ad before it could try to load and crash :blobcatgoogly:
yusss, i played sum 4 Ultimate on the 3DS!
such a clunky funfest :blobcatlaugh:

@Kagekokoro @rlier23 @PonyPanda @mario @Kyonko802
Trust me, I love charge blade. And I wasn't able to do anything with it, so I get you.

But I like to play ganes without my PC melting from (and I will say it)... DENUVO!!!

@LukeAlmighty @PonyPanda @rlier23 @LukeAlmighty @mario @Kyonko802 you have more mobility and more blocking options than ever before, how does charge blade suck in rise
If anything, it's too easy somehow since you need not rely on your guard points as much
@Kagekokoro @Kyonko802 @LukeAlmighty @mario @rlier23

1. Damage sucks
2. Every other weapon has better damage and has caught up in the spiciness department
3. Wirebug skills have given every other weapon their own guard point equivalent
4. CB maximum DPS meta involves using the two switch skills that change it to be more like a lame GS (Pizza cutter and counter morph)

Sorry. I just didn't find it as fun. Rapid morph Switch-Axe is bae now.
@Kagekokoro @Kyonko802 @LukeAlmighty @mario @rlier23

1. Bludgeoner is meta
2. Sword mode has native Mind's Eye
3. Rapid Morph + 5th gen redesign makes Swaxe a combo weapon
4. Elemental is better now
5. MH:R has the least i-frames ever meaning insta-cancel sidehops are more needed than ever

Put it all together. The game wanted me to return to Switch-Axe.

@Kagekokoro @rlier23 @mario @Kyonko802
World is ridiculously badly optimized, so no. I vote for rise even based on that singular fact.

@Kyonko802 @mario @Kagekokoro @LukeAlmighty @rlier23 this is what happens when you let money men and ideologies run/dictate your creative/artistic product
@Kyonko802 @mario @Kagekokoro @LukeAlmighty @rlier23 Don't forget Square Enix trying very hard to commit sepuku.

FF14 was so shit they had to remake it from scratch, doubling developing cost.
FF15 landed with a thud.
Eidos-Montréal was micro managed into decline by Square Enix, to the point they had no choice but to sell all their IP to Embracer Group for peanuts.

The FF7 remake was their only real hit for a while, but what happens when the cash cow dies?
>Square Enix
I thought we were talking about game studios that haven't given up yet :blobcatgoogly:
@LukeAlmighty @mario @Kagekokoro @LukeAlmighty @Kyonko802 blah blah blah the best way to know the intelligence of a person is doing a GENERALIZED statement and seeing i they resort to INDIVIDUAL CASES
You know how to disprove a generalized statements?
By providing a counter-example :blobcatwinktongue:
@LukeAlmighty @mario @Kagekokoro @LukeAlmighty @Kyonko802
do you know statistics? or are maths just too much for your squid brain?
yeah sure there are exceptions to the rule but rarely do they get in the spotlight and their number is in the minority compared to the trash that's constantly being pushed
>are maths just too much for your squid brain?
This is logic, not statistical maths :blobcatgoogly:
@LukeAlmighty @mario @Kagekokoro @LukeAlmighty @Kyonko802
statistics is logic you buffoon all math is logic jesus christ.
the statement was
"vidya industry is getting worse in general" meaning most of what's produced is not worth its price and is horribly designed
>statistics is logic you buffoon all math is logic
please explain, i'm interested :blobcat3c:
>statistics is logic you buffoon all math is logic
i'm still interested in the argument for that statement btw
@LukeAlmighty @mario @Kagekokoro @LukeAlmighty @Kyonko802
logic is infering a conclusion based on evidence given

basically: If "A" happens then "B" is true

in the case of statistic let's say you have 10 fruits 8 are apples 2 are oranges then using statistics you can say that out of the fruits you have "80% are apples"
you're making a conclusion based on the maths, on the goddamn statistics
>basically: If "A" happens then "B" is true
this is an implication

>you have 10 fruits 8 are apples 2 are oranges then using statistics you can say that out of the fruits you have "80% are apples"
this is a rephrasing, doesn't have anything intrinsically to do with any reasonable logic.

>you're making a conclusion based on the maths, on the goddamn statistics
what conclusion? that 8/10 is 80%? that's notation, not maths nor statistics. you didn't follow any logical path in that example.
