No, you don't get it.
The wide-spread IT education, free software, pre-made free game engines and distribution networks are making it MORE expensive to make a game.

@LukeAlmighty @Kyonko802 @LukeAlmighty i hate how videogames were supposed to be a completely new tipe of media that stood out for it's fun and interactive aspect but instead it ended up becoming into some sort of bizzarro copy of cinema without the chance for any of the possible depth that a movie script could have

it's all just wasted potential

@mario @Kagekokoro @rlier23 @LukeAlmighty The PS2 library was full of bangers and now the consoles don't get shit. Three of those are indies and the other one is made by one of the few AAA devs left that still knows what they're doing.

The PS5 has one exclusive and Sony is killing every studio that's worth a damn. Capcom is spiraling into their document plan. Phil Spencer doesn't know what the hell he's doing and the xbox hardly has anything going for it aside from Game Pass, and their big saving grace looter shooter is a mess on release.

There will always be good games, but you cannot sit here and tell me the industry isn't a shadow of what it once was just because there are. It is nothing like it once was.
>consoles
I think there lies the problem.

>There will always be good games
So why not focus on those ones?

>the industry isn't a shadow of what it once was
There have always been cash grabs :grand_dad:
Your nostalgia is ignoring all the bad movie-based games for the PS2
@LukeAlmighty @mario @Kagekokoro @LukeAlmighty @Kyonko802
>there have always been crashgrabs
no shit, tell me did those cashgrabs were praised and propped up by the big players in the industry?
TLOU2 was trash and it still got elevated
mh RISE was a decent game sure but it still pales in comparison to its predecesors
the new god of war is half of the time a walking simulator and the other half a bland as fuck hack and slash with half baked rpg mechanics

the saints row reboot was a colossal trashfire
@rlier23 @mario @Kagekokoro @Kyonko802 @LukeAlmighty I like MH Rise. My issues with it have nothing to do with overall modern trends. I think all the QoL improvements were great and they addressed many issues that MH has had. The most important one being the reason you even have a big map and don't just have arena quests (with maybe a side room for safety) incentivizing "foreplay" with quest specific buffs, props and a using monsters to ride and fight the target monster makes it that exploration doesn't feel like as much of a chore.

The MH series itself is a fucking shitshow of confused design statements and vestiges. But it still carried on because there was something good about it DESPITE all these issues. As time goes on, we learn. I see no reason to be pessimistic. Nothing that is old that is good is truly lost.

My issue with MH: Rise is that Charge Blade sucks. But... that could be because 4th gen introduced such drastically different weapons like CB and IG that were such crazy gamechangers, it made users of the more traditional weapons jealous. So you see how they tried to democritize it by nerfing them and also doling out aspects of these weapons in hunter styles in Monster Hunter Generations/Cross.

Why did they have to do that? Maybe it's because Longsword boomers were complaing. So in effect... my one issue with NEWER Monster Hunter games was the result of oldfags.

Pessimism is gay.

Trust me, I love charge blade. And I wasn't able to do anything with it, so I get you.

But I like to play ganes without my PC melting from (and I will say it)... DENUVO!!!
