Either way, Avatar had every single version of the mentor character possible, including a mentor who's skill is completely gone, Insane mentor and a mentor who will burn your fucking face off....

So, I don't consider age to be a factor, especially if the mentor is in fact fully capable to tech, and on top of her game.
