Again, why would i care about nudes of the mayor or a congresswoman? I understand how it would make them feel exposed and humiliated, though because their opponents would make sure to splatter the nudes all over.
People "above" us are not superhuman and expecting them to be is just stupid. It's also counter-productive because it forces them to act the part and nobody can do that. Also, this makes the "above" seem untouchable and that is most definitely not the case.
I mean, just look at world leaders. Very few of them are people you'd want as your neighbours. Most of them are psychopaths

Also, why would running for office make a difference on the theoretical discussion? An invasion of privacy is an invasion of privacy and it is wrong. I'd not care when voting if someone who took nudes and sent it to their spouse got hacked.
It's if the photos showed them being totally degenerate or selling/buying sex that I'd be put off. I guess the public office business means they have to be more careful but everyone has a past, even if you become a saint your past sins can always come back to haunt you
