How much do I trust humans?
Number pad looks different on phones, then it does on ATMs.

Gamepads have 3 different symbol layouts

Yeah, this is the level of cooperation humanity is capable of.

@LukeAlmighty x being on the left and y being on the top makes so much more sense than the other way around because they're on the axis they represent that way. Soul Calibur uses X for horizontal attacks and Y for vertical. Many 3D games use Y to jump. Nintendo's layout is the fucked up one even though it came first.

@beardalaxy @LukeAlmighty Personally I think that the 6 button layout is the best, but only the Sega Saturn and maybe the N64 have that layout. Games like mischief makers use the camera buttons for 4 directional dashing, and basically any other controllers forces to either map it to the camera stick or d-pad, which feels like shit either way.

I think, that since PS2, there was a grand total of 2 advancements in gamepad controls.

1) gyro aim
2) gyro aim button. (could be capacitance on the stick)

@LukeAlmighty @LodedDiaper the dualshock 4's TouchPad is actually pretty cool. Not many games used it for more than a button but using it with PC games is very nice. I like how Blacklight used it for taunts as well, you could map 4 taunts to the different cardinal directions you can swipe.

There's been regression with Nintendo not having analog triggers though for some stupid reason. HD rumble is more important I guess :JahyDead:

But not much innovation needs to be done on controllers now, which is why most added features end up just feeling like a gimmick. Have you seen any games that use the DualSense's heart monitor? xD

I am still pissed at MICROSOFT for not supporting it in drivers.

I have a 3rd party, and while Linux understands what a touchpad is, Microsoft does not.
