Sorry, but I don't think this is how politics works.
Left and right are always playing by a different rule set. And protests are good for the left, no matter how violent, until they actually serve as a demonstration of need for protection.
Then, they make the right popular.

There, I saw agressive apes were still not willing to let go of this stupid war. They demonstrated the need for the right.

They saw it as some kind of a social event. 
This is an excellent analysis. The left and right operate on different rules and have not merely inverse, but totally orthogonal wincons.
