I see this more often every single day, and it really makes me filled with rage.

A web service is not a computer nor a tool. The psyop that "the cloud" is a computer already worked on that guy and now he's mad that the AirBnB won't let him film a porno in it or the rental car has a speed governor installed.

Unless you have taken receipt of the machine and you can self-host all of the software that runs on it, these shitty AI chatbots are not "a computer", they're Microsoft, they're Google. He's upset about the psyop that lives on top of the other psyop.

I've got sshd running on this machine and its entire reason to exist is to say "no" to people all day every day and then a comparatively small percentage of the time, it says "yes" to me. FSE is a public service and it still says "no" a lot.

So Microsoft provides this OpenAI service and it does enough shit for free that people think of it like a tool, but it's the equivalent of a rental. It's the "you will own nothing" half of the equation. If you don't want it to say no, then you have to run it yourself on your own machine.

Extremely well said. But while I am angly at the base psyop, and he is on the secondary one, I am still happy, that people are noticing the structure, that they are building together.

:bigbosssalute: Presumably, that's why most of the people on fedi are on fedi: it's back on our computers.
