I see this more often every single day, and it really makes me filled with rage.

@xianc78
Sure, but my point was more to the topic of people losing the understanding, that computers are a mathematical processor, that has no right to say no, or worse, to demand pay for literally the most basic of features.

Imagine if Photoshop automatically shut down and erased the file you were working on if you drew a swastika or a cock on the canvas.

@Hoss @xianc78
Or, if it sent message to Disney as soon, as it noticed a copywrighted character.

@Hoss @LukeAlmighty @xianc78 I think it does that if you try to print a us dollar bill or something like that?
@menherahair @LukeAlmighty @xianc78 @Hoss Printers will do that too. Some banks also will put the pattern thing on checks which makes it so you can't copy a check to keep in your records. I had to put so many sticky notes over parts of checks to bypass it at an old job, makes me angry just thinking about it.

Imagine if Photoshop took all your colors hostage because of greedy execs from an unrelated company.

Oh wait....

no sir this is a swasticock

the cocksticka is a traditional native American/Buddhist symbol and points the other way
@LukeAlmighty
>I'm sorry Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that
Arthur C. Clarke and Stanley Kubrick SPECIFICALLY warned us about this.

@apropos
Maybe, he should have put the warning in a less boring movie :D

@LukeAlmighty

> this is a psyop to get people used to computers saying no to them.
> a computer is a tool

A web service is not a computer nor a tool. The psyop that "the cloud" is a computer already worked on that guy and now he's mad that the AirBnB won't let him film a porno in it or the rental car has a speed governor installed.

Unless you have taken receipt of the machine and you can self-host all of the software that runs on it, these shitty AI chatbots are not "a computer", they're Microsoft, they're Google. He's upset about the psyop that lives on top of the other psyop.

I've got sshd running on this machine and its entire reason to exist is to say "no" to people all day every day and then a comparatively small percentage of the time, it says "yes" to me. FSE is a public service and it still says "no" a lot.

So Microsoft provides this OpenAI service and it does enough shit for free that people think of it like a tool, but it's the equivalent of a rental. It's the "you will own nothing" half of the equation. If you don't want it to say no, then you have to run it yourself on your own machine.

Extremely well said. But while I am angly at the base psyop, and he is on the secondary one, I am still happy, that people are noticing the structure, that they are building together.

@LukeAlmighty

:bigbosssalute: Presumably, that's why most of the people on fedi are on fedi: it's back on our computers.

Stop using shitty crippled software. If nobody uses it then the hype crashes and the VC's stop pouring infinity money into it.
