I think the Steam Machine will be a stupid flop.
I mean, what exactly does it offer? Steam fans do have a PC already.

@LukeAlmighty I have a little pc in my living room I use from time to time. It would be nice to have something a bit more powerful, but I wouldn't be able to justify it since I don't game enough. Especially not in the living room.

I see this as being like a really well priced, moderately performing pre build with the benefit of a great OS dedicated to gaming and a nice and small form factor. There are plenty of people who that appeals to.

@LukeAlmighty It looks like a console. Steam OS feels like a good console menu. You can buy it and play your steam games on it. Or put emudeck on it and play tons of old games.

Yes, you could do that with your own hardware but this is small and simple and its small size makes it easy to integrate into the living room setup. I think it'll do well.
@LukeAlmighty well, consoles sell because of two reasons (laziness and exclusives) and I guess the steam machine offers the first one

@cunny
True, that most mainstream PC exclusives do have some anti-linux malware.

@LukeAlmighty I meant the steam machine offers something to lazy people unwilling to learn anything about PC building and specs
