Power scaling is a legitimate part of world building, but the Death Battle retards give the whole thing a bad name because 1) they take ridiculous outlier feats and just run with them to the point where half of the Marvel and DC roster can blow up the multiverse and 2) they completely ignore anti-feats and negative outliers.

As far as I'm concerned, outlier feats should not be considered legitimate unless they're story relevant AND are replicated. For example, sub-500 power level Dragon Ball characters blowing up the moon is a ridiculous outlier compared to everything else these characters do - however, since it happens twice, AND both instances are story-relevant and have lasting consequences (not gag moments) you have to accept them as legitimate representations of what the character can do. They also line up with 18 000 power level Vegeta being able to blow up earth.

Speed feats are if anything even worse, because of this claim that combat speed has NOTHING to do with travel speed (which would otherwise completely debunk various outlier feats).

@ChristiJunior
Yeah, powerscalers can obviously use retarded methodology, and ignore the point/true nature of some feats.

On the other side though, if you can look at this and not see how it ruined the entire rest of the series, then you literally need to hire consultants. And I cannot believe, that I am even writing such an idea. But yeah, power-scaling consultants should be a thing.

@LukeAlmighty It wouldn't even require a suicide attack. Droids can pilot a capital ship. Just hook up an astromech, aim a blockade runner at the latest Death Star, flawless victory.

Exactly. And as I said, a "powesrcaling consultant" would see that immediately.

@LukeAlmighty Hollywood used to have general purpose consultants who could spot problems like that. They were low level employees who read any script submitted and either shitcanned it or provided notes. Ayn Rand, of all people, was hired as a script reader by Cecil B. DeMille himself, or so she claimed.

Later when most in-house positions were eliminated due to budget cuts there were research firms that provided this service. Star Trek ran all their scripts through DeForest Research, who would correct the usual dimwit screenwriter errors like mistaking a solar system for a galaxy. Rand and DeForest would have shitcanned The Last Jedi within ten pages. Roddenberry would have written a sternly worded memo to Rian Johnson about the hazards of making your hero stupid.
