Nah, I don't believe that.
I think they just got cought in an ekvivalent of chinese finger trap.

They pushed the "no vax means murder" narrative so much, that noone can lift the lockdowns without looking like a murderous psycho. And these people care only about how they look for the public.

And in attempt to pursuade them, they drove the other half insane... I think I am starting to enjoy the decline...
