I love how this ancient Roman encyclopedia randomly goes on tangent on random things and are spot on about some scientific discoveries and then completely insane about others.

But my favorite is them explaining how the Earth is round to peasants who have no education.

They basically tell the peasants that the Earth is round and then the peasants ask well why don't people fall off on the other side? This is before they understood what gravity was. So their simple explanation was.

Well why is the earth just sitting in space / the heavens why doesn't it fall to the lower heaven's.

See it makes no sense. The power of nature allows for everything to float in the heavens perfectly.
