I'm curious... could you run a virtual machine inside a virtual machine?
I'll have to try this with VirtualBox. I know there are better software out there, but I'm not gonna spend money on Vmware just for a silly idea I came up with after taking a shower.
@alyx VMware is free for noncommercial users. But it's also not Libre so why even use it
@igeljaeger
Really? I haven't looked into it in forever, and I just always remembered it as being $$$. Maybe I'll looked into it at some point.
@alyx I did try it out on Linux but the installation process is retarded don't waste your time
@igeljaeger @alyx last time I tried to install vmware the installer just didn't work, stick to foss qemu+kvm (gnome boxes) or virtualbox
@phoenix
I've been wanting to give qemu a try, but VirtualBox has been so perfect for me, that I never really lacked any features, so why fix something that's not broken.
@igeljaeger
@a7
How about I piss everyone off and install Windows 10.
@igeljaeger @phoenix

@alyx @a7 @igeljaeger @phoenix Install windows 8.0 like a proper degenerate. Commit to making an ass of yourself!

@VD15
I would, but I no longer have a 8 license. I upgraded that one to 10. I still have several Vista licenses I think.
@phoenix @igeljaeger @a7
@VD15 @phoenix @a7 @alyx is this a windows user coming out thread? Fucking sinners
@alyx @VD15 @a7 @phoenix uuuh that's fine too I guess. Can't you find Libre alternatives to that software?
@igeljaeger
Technically yes, but the windows software is sometimes just plain better.
@VD15 @a7 @phoenix
@igeljaeger
In the past I've needed to use MS Office for example, but currently it's just foobar2000 that I haven't managed to replace.
@VD15 @a7 @phoenix
@alyx @igeljaeger @VD15 @a7 consider using deadbeef, it's pretty similar to fb2k. there's also mpd+cantata and clementine which I like to use.
for ms office, there's libreoffice, which works pretty well
@phoenix
I've tried all of those. Clementine and deadbeef have been the most useful, and they are quite close indeed. But not quite there. I generally revisit them every once in a while to see how they've progressed.
@VD15 @a7 @igeljaeger
@alyx @phoenix @VD15 @igeljaeger I always hear chan fags gushing about foobar2000 what makes it good?
@a7
Lots of plugins. Very customizable. Theme support. Plays any audio format you throw at it (even some old game music, with the right plugin). It does it all, and it does it well as far as I'm concerned.
@VD15 @igeljaeger @phoenix
@alyx @a7 @VD15 @igeljaeger I mean, that's pretty much every linux audio player, I haven't found one where you couldn't play any audio format (excluding old game music, because that's too niche. audacious has a plugin for it though)
@phoenix
I've found a lot of players that have bits and pieces of what I want. But what's usually the deal breaker is an inferior equalizer and bad replay gain support. And foobar's theme support is always that little extra that seals the deal for me.
@VD15 @a7 @igeljaeger
Follow

@igeljaeger @a7 @phoenix @alyx If your software doesn't support at least two themes it's unusable. Change my mind.
