That's kinda my point, no one does server maintenance or replacement for a whole week. You'd have to be extremely incompetent at this. And they've been working on gab for years now. You'd think they've learned a thing or two in all this time. We're literally at a point where Occam's razor would point towards they ran away with money.

The amount of time it’s been down is majorly fishy. The level of incompetence involved is pretty baffling for a supposed million dollar company.

@lucky @a7 @SteveTheDragon @alyx They marketed it as a big rebrand by switching from a twitter clone to a facebook clone, so they want to sell the idea that a ton of people have come back.
The truth is their new FE just runs like ass.

It’s actually a fundamentally a solid layout, they took the core of Facebook and simplified it down to a level that doesn’t make you want to kill yourself upon first viewing. A few oddities, but I’d use it if it didn’t run like ass, which is unfortunately impossible for them.

@SteveTheDragon @a7 @alyx @lucky If you can ask P to keep an up to date MastoFE you can use the single column mode by forcing mobile, then it’ll really be like Twitter. But to my knowledge he’s still on a version where that doesn’t work properly.
Alternatively, you could come here, we do have it working and we don’t have any particular rules to my knowledge.

@lucky @SteveTheDragon @a7 @alyx No way, they were fudging the numbers heavy from the start when they were initially fund raising. There’s no way they wouldn’t have run it back then if some part of Dorbo didn’t genuinely want to build something.
They’d get sued into oblivion anyway if they tried tho lel
@alyx @SteveTheDragon If you arent familiar with the situation theyre currently in, maybe. They just ported to a new resource intensive FE that was running worse the longer they were up because they can’t code for shit. no one’s checked their git because who cares but most likely they’re having to duct tape a bunch of fixes in addition to migration. They’re also really fucking slow anyway, don’t think they’re gone just because they take forever lol.
They’re right on the cusp of what they think is a major release with the video calling software, they’ll be back.
