@posrev @alyx I’d say “thanks” but the condolences are more for my wife than for me. She has a big extended family w/ lots of older folks who weren’t very good at following any kind of precautions.
I know a bunch more people who’ve had the disease who were ok, including my parents, my best friend’s parents, and some of my friends.
I do think the lockdowns killed my grandmother, though, she was in her nineties and died “of old age” after being isolated for a long time, when previous to the pandemic she was still going to church and the library and such and was very mentally sharp.
Obviously it’s hard to know at that age how much time she really had left, but she traveled across the country just before the pandemic started and deteriorated from being able to do that to death in 11 months. I’m sure many people have stories like this.
Anyway point in all that is that I am definitely not a COVID denier or even skeptic, what I’m a skeptic of is the efficacy of heavy-handed governmental restrictions on our freedoms that had better be really effective if they’re to be justified, and I don’t see deaths like my grandmother’s being counted in the “cons” column for lockdowns.
@ArcticGrapes Did you have to go to hospital or were you able to stay at home? @wiggles @alyx
@ArcticGrapes I have read a bit about the long term effects of coronavirus. Doctors and scientists are still learning about the long term effects. Lets hope it’s not permanent. @alyx
@ArcticGrapes I pray that you fully recover. @alyx
@alyx The reason I asked is because there are some people who think there is no coronavirus. @wiggles
