I never even heard of this concept tbh, but I can't begin to imagine how this would work. Like, how do you reach a point where you can actively convince yourself your imaginary friends are real when you know they're imaginary friends that you made up?

That's what it sounds like indeed, but would that actually work if you're actually of sound mind? This goes back to the Christian saying "fake it till you make it". But does it actually work though? Especially to such a degree to self induce schizophrenia?
