I never even heard of this concept tbh, but I can't begin to imagine how this would work. Like, how do you reach a point where you can actively convince yourself your imaginary friends are real when you know they're imaginary friends that you made up?

@alyx @nosleep @Wormwood there was a whole hilarious story about a tulpa that was made up and a group of people were talking to with a ouija board.
@alyx @Wormwood @nosleep but mostly if you make them for yourself there is a lot of meditation and mental effort that goes in to it. you have to practice a lot of visualization and focusing exercizes to do it. tibettans used to make them as a sign of how pro you were if i recall.

although occultists kinda used them for more utilitarian tasks than ponies :blobcatgoogly:

Like what? Doing your imaginary laundry? Like you're literally creating a split personality for yourself. How's that useful?

So is the tulpa supposed to magically remember everything perfectly, while you're too lazy to put in the effort to remember yourself?

@alyx @nosleep @Wormwood someone i used to talk to tried to make one to tend to his memory palace. i never really had the patience for that kind of thing.
