@xianc78@gameliberty.club when will they get those batteries that will charge in seconds? Or is that just pipe dream

@fuggy @xianc78
Pipe dream. Supercapacitors, sure, you could charge those in seconds, but they won't hold enough charge. But batteries, you'll never get insta charge batteries like that.

@alyx@gameliberty.club @xianc78@gameliberty.club I think it was something else but they where talking about it years ago I'll assume it doesn't hold charge or is not practical at a mass scale or other issues

I'd be nice to make Fallout a reality, but unfortunately there's a limit to how much you can scale down a nuclear reactor.

@fuggy @xianc78
Theoretically the limitation might not be the reactor itself, more the cooling and the radioactivity shielding needed.

@fuggy @xianc78
Although... a better solution might be to not even use the reactor for electricity, but rather go back to steam engine technology, with the superhot radioactive material providing the steam.

@alyx @fuggy @xianc78 ... isn't that what we currently do?

where's that jpg when you need it about how it's all just boiling water in increasingly elaborate ways

@roboneko @xianc78 @fuggy
Yes, that's what we do to make electricity out of a nuclear reactor.
I meant that in the hypothetical idea of making a nuclear powered car, the car's engine itself wouldn't be electric, as you'd initially assume, but driven directly by the steam.
