Didn't Netflix create a plan where it serves you ads?

Normally Netflix didn't have ads at all, but recently there were talks about creating a cheaper plan that also served ads. I don't know if they went along with the plan.
It wouldn't too bad if Elon actually tried to destroy Twitter imo, but I don't think the Blue thing is that bad. I don't remember Twitter having that many ads to begin with anyway.
@alyx @nosleep @pasture i know hulu originally had a free version that served ads, and you could pay to have them removed. idk about netflix, i haven't used it since like 2016.
that would still be different, though. imagine if netflix was free and served ads to pay for the service, and you could pay $8/month to get 2 ads during a movie instead of 4, or you could pay $12/month to get no ads at all. i don't think anyone would go for the cheaper option.
another example would be if YouTube Premium just gave you less ads, rather than no ads at all.
on one hand i think it's funny that twitter users are getting extorted but on the other hand, is elon actually trying to tank twitter on purpose....?
