So far, Trump's attempt at a peace deal in the Russia-Ukraine conflict has been disappointing. Still hoping it works out in the end, cause no one else tried to do anything to actually stop the war.
@beardalaxy Without being part at the negotiations, it's hard to say whose fault it is. Could be Zelensky, could also be Trump & his administration not managing to get Putin to behave for 5 fricking seconds. As for Putin... whatever is happening, he's most definitely partly to blame too.

@alyx I think that it's pretty obvious given he's said they'll fight "to the last Ukrainian," he doesn't want to play ball with the people who want to actually help, and has completely silenced opposition political parties and even religions. He's a trainwreck. Of course, it was Russia that invaded to begin with and Putin is also continuing the fight, but if hypothetically his terms are just "don't join nato and we keep the land we have now" I don't see a reason you wouldn't take that deal other than pride and maintaining power.

Literally Zelensky's words. Which... I mean I'm sure Ukraine's constitution says that, but it shouldn't take more than a 8 year old to understand that's bullshit you put in there for the nationalistic propaganda. That's not something you're supposed to take seriously and actually expect to enforce in a war scenario.

@alyx I honestly think most of it comes down to zelensky not wanting to take a single L even if it means throwing the entire country into the meat grinder.
