I've played 15~30 minutes of Minecraft in my entire life. I don't get it and don't think I want to.

@djsumdog There's nothing to get. There's nothing special about chicken jockeys. This isn't about Minecraft. It's a mass hysteria meme of soyjacks pointing at the screen "look, he said the thing!". Because people started doing it, then more people felt the need to do it to "be in". It's people on mass trying to conform to the new "cool".

@alyx @djsumdog ok i just watched the scene via https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8zy-EGZq6vs and i get what they were going for. it didn't *have* to be nothing special, but the ENTIRE scripting and delivery of that scene is so aimless and neutral that it does sound like he did nothing more than say the thing.

it could have been rewritten without that "fight to the death" shit, and then when the jockey mount came out he coulda been like "oh shit this is way worse than a chicken"
@alyx @djsumdog it's so bad how i instantly knew how to write this scene better after one watch of this and putting two seconds of thought into it. i don't get paid to write stories.

@wowaname @djsumdog
First time I actually watched a scene of the movie... and OH MY GOD, the green screen is SOOOO bad. I've seen two-bit YouTubers from a decade ago do a better job. Jesus...

@alyx @djsumdog lmao. sad that it isn't even the worst issue with the movie though

@wowaname @djsumdog
Oh, I'm sure of it. And it's why I'll NEVER watch this movie. Waste of time. I've had more fun watching vtubers play my favorite video games than watching Hollywood slop. And I used to be staunchly against watching streamers play video games, because... well... why watch someone else play games, when I can play them myself. But the entertainment industry has collapsed so much. :blobshrug:

@alyx @wowaname @djsumdog >why watch someone else play games, when I can play them myself.
People who actually ask this don't seem to realize that the same was true of Baseball in the age of radio, and that most people who "watch" streams are tabbed-out most of the time. Nothing new under the sun, and all that.

If I want to listen to something tabbed out, it's gonna be podcasts or something like that, where video is irrelevant to begin with.

Not interested to hear something happening and having to rush back to the stream tab, and rewind a few seconds to understand what the hell happened to the streamer.

@alyx @Kusojiji @djsumdog also idk why but i actually can't listen to "real" podcasts because i feel obligated to pay attention. gamers tend to take long periods to focus or talk about parts of the game i already know, so it's easier to tune out. i don't think i have ad(h)d, i'm just retarded like that
