@m00se Ban reality. Existence itself is what is causing the suffering.

@m00se I have a better solution for solving this. Ban making children. No children means no way for children to die from gun violence or other accidents.

@Sandyt0es
This is starting to become a reoccurring theme from what I'm seeing. She's most likely not actually transgender, she's a trans-trender. She feels the need to fit in with "the cool kids", her friends. The whole thing manifests itself like how being goth or emo was like 10 years ago. Even back then kids would be so adamant in saying "It's not a trend mom! This is who I am!". And of course after a few years, they'd be over it.

The problem here is of course that you can't let her completely adopt this trend since it would cause health issues. And I severely doubt at this point that even hormone blockers don't have an effect on people's brains and make things worse.

Since you say that she already had a traumatic experience with her surgery, I would suggest finding a good therapist, one that wouldn't just jump on the trans bandwagon. The problem here is that even most therapists seem to have been forced into giving in into these delusions immediately. So I have no idea how you could find a decent one.

If you don't think you can find someone who you trust, then you play the part. Ask her why she feels like she isn't a girl. Be the parent that wants to understand by asking questions. Lots of questions about every small thing you can think of. Therapy is a lot about asking the right things to make the patient think things through. You can get a better understanding about how and why she's feeling the way she is, and hopefully she will too. But if you do attempt this yourself, you'll have to create a friendly, non-confrontational environment, which might mean you'll have to accept calling her however she wants for now.

Another approach would be to get her involved in other things. Get her out of the house, take family trips, maybe help her discover a new hobby. Anything that keeps her mind off things and away from the friends that influence her in this direction. The critical part is, don't let her figure out under any circumstances that you're trying to keep her away from her online friends.

I wish there was an easy solution, but I haven't seen one. The scary part is that even legitimate gender dysphoria is not that simple to diagnose, and now we're getting a wave of kids that can easily learn online what to say to make people think they have it too.

Why is 6 afraid of 7? Because 6 has agoraphobia. So stop being a prick about it!

@matrix Couldn't they at least lie and say it was for performance reasons? Why is it that going "politically correct" makes people this dumb?

@solidsanek I think the problem was people don't read a game's manual that often. And this was even more applicable to people who played previous Pokémon games.

It didn't use to be this hard to find a decent picture of Diablo 2 Deckard Cain.

@alex
Technically no one would need to fork F-droid, someone would just need to make a custom repository for the F-droid app, and teach users how to add it. That last part would really be the difficult part.

>unironically calling people "meat eaters" as if humans were ever strictly carnivores

If I could actually survive on eating meat alone, I swear I'd do it just to piss off vegans.

If you can give up these things when you're on vacation for example, I wouldn't call it addiction necessarily, but it is something we're too comfortable wasting time with.

Sure, interacting through just videogames is "fine" it's just not the best IMO. Especially for younger kids.
In the end parents will get whatever they work for. If they just drop the kids in front of a screen because they can't be bothered to actually raise them, they'll have no one to blame but themselves.

Good point. I guess for parents to be able to do this, they'd have to spend time with their kids doing outside activities in the first place. I'm guessing children would better understand what adults mean by "go play ball with he neighborhood kids" if they had a point of reference.
@moonman

Maybe I should embrace my chosen name and start Hinata posting... Maybe that can be my thing on fediverse... Or maybe I can continue being a lazy ass, since I don't even have access to my collection right now.

So Yorpy is becoming a thing on fedi now... Can't wait for the fan art.
