I guess we'll just add it to the other words that have lost all meaning. Right next to: racism, sexism, nazi, conservative, fascism.

@a7
Nah, I'm pretty sure Canada and UK should be the ones paying for the riots.

@crunklord420
TBH I'm not in favor of "leaders" speaking just for the hell of it. If you actually have a plan, a policy, or something relevant to say that can help fix things, then go for it. But don't make public statements just to say "our prayers go out to the family". Fuck that useless shit.

@a7
I'd interpret that as a direct thread of violence. So they should be really careful with that shit.

I'm a bit unclear how much he played by the rules. I've heard reports that restraining by the neck wasn't a standard procedure in their precinct. So that's gonna be a big problem if true.

From what I've seen, there's already a good amount of footage of the victim resisting and escalating things. Not sure how much more we could get from body cameras, since those are gonna be a lot more shaky than 3rd party footage. And besides, we're not the ones that should be given access to these things. It's not the mob that should provide justice in the first place.

@shpuld @11112011 @death@husk.site @shmibs
From what I can remember the restraining by the neck is a bit too common. As in, it's not a smart thing to use, but it is something that is being used. If this were the only case when this technique was applied, then maybe we would have had a different discussion.

But yeah, the evidence points against actual intent to murder. And even in the video, to me it doesn't look as if he was applying full force to try to kill someone. I honestly don't get what mindset people have that they come up with such conclusions.

As for, was it his fault: if we're talking about manslaughter, yup. Not arguing against that. What I'm arguing against is the narrative that the cop intentionally tried to murder someone because of "muh racism".

@shmibs @11112011 @death@husk.site
Except none of that came up in the autopsy. What part of "not strangulation or asphyxiation" is difficult to comprehend?

Huh... apparently the Epic Games free Borderlands games include all the DLC. That's usually not the case for these things. They usually give games without the DLC. So this is giveaway is really worth it then.

Shocker, I might agree that if cops were murdering people in cold blood on a regular basis that would be a bad thing and reason to kick up a fuss. Except that isn't what happened. But some fuckers are trying to make it sound like it is, and everyone is playing into their hands.

anyone with an IQ of maybe less than 120 is going to find it extremely difficult if not impossible to make sense of the firehose of disinformation the media pushes at them. that's about the cutoff point i've arrived at, based on experience.

in many cases, people you would otherwise consider reasonably intelligent still can't seem to figure out they're being manipulated by the corporate media and government.
@sjw @rw @maxmustermann If the argument "were not terrorist, we are only an ideological movement that opposes X" were valid, then LITERALLY , no terrorist group could be designed as such.
The false promise is that that argument pretends to override a group's ACTIONS with a group's PHILOSOPHICAL PRINCIPLES.

Pretty much, you judge a terrorist for what a terrorist DOES, not for how a terrorist pretends to JUSTIFY their actions.

Yeah, you can recite the Quram all day, but unless you go and try to kill non muslims "for the glory of Allah" or donate to organizations that promote such actions, you are not a terrorist ( or better said, you are a SPONSOR of terrorism ).

What makes a terrorist then ? Those who for example go and destroy private property because "muh revolution", those who finance and incite those who go and destroy private property and those who provide the logistic support ( food, weapons, etc ) to those who go and destroy private property.

@Galena
No, they won't be able to. They're both extremist fundamentalist ideologies. It's in their nature to not give an inch. They would never be able to reach a compromise.

Neither political party is competent enough to deal with a global pandemic or urban riots, so we might as well stick with the party that's not trying to actively prevent you from defending yourself in the middle of this shit.

@death@husk.site @11112011
I made my point. But you prefer to believe that guy was murdered in cold bold because it makes you feel warm and fuzzy inside to support the insane riots.

@crunklord420
Unpopular opinion: no one deserves looting. Because when this is over, it won't be the big guys that have to pay the price anyway. It's still the little guy that will have to recover the lost profit.

@Terry
Well, the ones that are planning to take over the leadership of the country have to survive this, don't they?
