Let's be honest, there's wasn't any demand for webp either, and there still isn't that much. It didn't stop Google from pushing it VERY hard.

@yangwenli
So it would be politically neutral.
There's literally no other color that couldn't have been interpreted in a political way.

@icedquinn
I do wonder what Google were thinking with pulling out support out of Chrome already, when they barely put it in, and it wasn't even a default feature either.

What I've generally found more useful is not even a star or score rating, but review length. The longer it is, the more confidence I have that the product left a profound impression on the customer, enough to inspire him to take the time to write an in depth review.

As for the ratings themselves...

I've found that 1 star reviews are also gonna include the most frustrated users, that had severe issues with the product. It's where I usually start. I look for any review that is at least a few sentences long. If it's too short, I just consider it a hater and ignore it. There's not gonna be a lot of good reviews, but when you find them, they are worth the effort of wading through the "this sucks!" reviews.

For 2 and 3 stars I probably pay the most attention to, even to very short reviews. Whenever there's a dogpile hater review bomb an a product, they ALWAYS go for 1 star. But giving 2 and 3 stars is ignored as an option for most people, so I have a good degree of confidence most of these are honest.

At 4 stars is where I look for honest positive reviews. Nothing in the world is perfect. Anything has flaws, and it takes an upstanding person to admit to the flaws of something he still likes. While I tend to be risk adverse, and put more weight on reasons why I shouldn't buy something, if you're looking for positive feedback to give you confidence in your purchase, this is the place to look at.

5 stars reviews are probably the worst. The most frustrating ones are when someone makes a long review, states plenty of positives, but also some negatives, and then gives it 5 star, when it's clear that the user's experience is of a 4 star. I hate these reviews the most, and even prefer the 1 star ones over these, as a source of information.

Leaving the memes aside, I like the aesthetic. I want to see some kind of fantasy or sci-fi movie featuring this black-asian guy.

>got too big and overwhelming and less chill
I know the feeling. I've been there before. Might end up doing the same sometime in the future.

Firstly, thanks for posting a copy here.

Secondly, this had more dystopian vibes than I expected. For some reason it reminded me of the movie The Island.

For those who didn't see it, The Island is about a future, in which a corporation perfects cloning for organ harvesting. But they discover that the bodies "expire" if they try to keep the clones in vats, doing nothing. They needed to live, breath, etc. So they keep the clones locked up in an underground facility, where they're cared for as if they were children, and are told they were the few survivors of a world ending radioactive disaster of sorts, that made the surface inhospitable, except for an "Island" where life was perfect. And the caretakers organized a "lottery" that occasionally picked a clone to be moved to this "island". And everybody was very happy when it would happen. Except, unknown to the poor clones, what was happening was that the rich clients were cashing in on the cloned organs.

This ad strongly reminds me of how the clones in the movie were basically tricked into celebrating what would end up being their own deaths, as this ad attempts to normalize people celebrating someone wanting to kill themselves.

>her name literally means "mouth" in Romanian
>she's making her return from break precisely on Romania's national day
I'm calling it. The shark was secretly a Romanian all along.

However this ends though, this transparency is deeply needed if society is to remain somewhat free, and not ruled by weirdly disfigured socialist corporations (I'm honestly not sure how best to describe what the big tech companies have become. They are massive corporations, that nonetheless advocate some deeply marxist/communist shit. It they were living organism, I'd call that a severe case of genetic malformation).

@Trigg3rH4ppy
TBH, I'm apprehensive... I can't help but dread that it's gonna be so much worse than what I've expected, and I already expect some bad shit.

@ZySoua
Because touching it with our hands is disgusting to us, and exposes us to the risk of contracting dangerous mind altering parasites.

@ChristiJunior @coin @diresock
Anyway, at some point I might go on there, as a way to watch and lurk on the lefty fediverse, but not today. Definitely a better, more neutral place to do something like that from than mastodon.social.

@ChristiJunior @coin @diresock
Big tech is full of Indians, so of course.

What I'm stunned by is the "no promotion of crypto". I'm biased against crypto, so I like the rule kinda, but I also find it absurd to actually issue a rule like that. What's next, no promotion of poker?
