First time I used Linux was in autumn 2010, first time I heard of it was probably around 2004. I do remember seeing a Ubuntu live CD in a computer repair store once, but I remember already knowing Linux was a thing before that.

TFW running a game with proton-dxvk can be 1.5-2x faster than native OpenGL. Although I think a good portion of that difference is a bad Linux port, I also know for certain that dxvk can indeed be faster than even native DirectX on Windows.
