What is the dumbest "hot take" you've heard from an expert?

I'll start.
> Bookmarks are dead. There is no reason for bookmarks to exist anymore, since the search engines exist. They were important, when the internet was startingm but now, you just write what you want to see, and Google will give it to you anyway.

@latein
Even, if Google works, and you remember the correct words:

It still is one mouse click, vs writing down exactly what you want to look up, letting another page load up, some reading and then selecting the correct page.

That is definitelly not the same thing.

@LukeAlmighty unless you've got a spyware browser or you've set something up, your bookmarks will stay on the one browser application, and if you bookmark enough stuff to supplant search engine usage you're going to have to do a lot more than "one mouse click" to find what you're looking for in it. whereas looking up a few keywords has the same access time in every case

@latein @LukeAlmighty i have a lot of bookmarks but i have them all sorted out very nicely on my bookmarks bar and i can get to exactly where i want to go with 2 mouse clicks max, versus clicking into the URL bar and beginning to type something which will take two actions minimum and requires two devices to be used instead of just one.

Follow

@beardalaxy @latein @LukeAlmighty ctrl-L to reduce it to 1 device

The browser will also show you bookmarks when typing into the url bar based on the bookmark url/title without having to load a page

Also I'd forget shit if I didn't bookmark it
