I can unfortunately very much confirm this. My parents refuse to believe that sometimes the government lies or is just straight up incompetent. However no matter what we do, Anglo Canada hates us simply for existing.

At least here where I live people are already very irritated. My family in Québéc have hardly seen any impact beyond the media (except for Radio X) of the "pandemic."

There's nobody wearing masks here. I think only like 50-60 are vaccinated and a lot were older people/minorities who were scared of dying or had someone get it early on. Meanwhile a blue city an hour away has a mask mandate and a marginally higher rate of it, but things were still open and nobody gave a shit when I didn't wear it.

Some jobs have mask mandates for employees, and that's the only reason I wear them. Healthcare centres here usually have you wear them, but it's a hospital so tbh I get it.
The only reason I don't mind wearing a mask at work is because I don't have to do the retail smile™ at customers.

We did have a strong region of French speakers until about WW2. Some really old folks speak a dialect that is similar to the Trois Rivières accent.
In the USA as far as french Canadian enclaves that's probably Maine or Vermont.

Yeah here in Maine in the early 1900's the govt. was really anti-francophone and it caused a lot of immigrants to assimilate. Though there has a been a push in the past few years to try and push teaching the language in Maine through immersion schools. Though sadly I feel they're not doing it because of the descendants of french canadian immigrants but because of all the francophone africains that are being dumped here by NGO's :(

One of my buddies is from Louisiana, he's native francophone and he's the only other person in french class who was confused at what some words were called in France French.

Yeah sadly academia doesn't really teach regional dialects and they focus mostly on the français métropolitain dialect.

I've basically never used "nous" until I started french class. «On» exists and means the same thing so why not.

Alberta is pretty English, but there's a few French towns. Namely Beaumont, which started as a French colony.
Yes it would always have the groupthink but I suspect that our heavy involvement in vaccination is perhaps influenced by other places
If it was just us I think we would be pushing for a locally made vaccine that would take longer to make and get more appropriately vetted
In America the only areas with French Canadian ties is mostly Louisana ( Acadiens ) , and New England though most of the francophones are in New Hampshire ( Especially the city of Berlin ). and Maine ( Mostly in Aroostook county ) other communities in Massachussetts, Connecticut, and Rhode Island are pretty americanized now.

Les Acadiens are ....unique. Like Québéc they have divergent dialects and pronunciation but if you know Québécois vocabulary you're 90% there.
