I'm curious about what the fertility rates are going to be. What I do know is that even the FDA debunked the "ivermectin sterilizes you" myth covidians spread around.

mRNA is basically all you could get where I live

And I got it because my relatives pressured me to :/
@becassine @parisc @CSB @coolboymew @deprecated_ii @marud @ooignignoktoo @skylar I know that feel, my grandparents are moving out here soon, grandma constantly watches CNN, which has fried her brain. Seemingly unwilling to have me and their great-grandchildren visit unless we get vaccinated, but no dice. But they might change their minds.

My mom was hysterical for almost all of 2020 about the virus

Like wipe everything down with alcohol that comes into the house hysterics, even though I showed her the papers that showed it wasn’t transmitted through objects

She was just constantly going after me about it and asking why I thought I knew better than medical professionals blablabla
Eventually I caved under the pressure
@becassine @CSB @coolboymew @deprecated_ii @marud @ooignignoktoo @parisc @skylar Christ, my dad was like that too. Wiped down everything with bleach. I came back from Wendy's to get a burger once and he claimed I was trying to "kill them all". But he chilled out after I showed him side effects, poor efficacy, over-inflated mortality rates, all the shit governments & corpos have been up to.

I had very similar experiences with my parents
Unfortunately mine were far less willing to listen to reason
“Why would the government do something malicious on purpose?”
But so much of Quebec just believes the government has our best interests at heart. It is religious dogma near impossible to break through

@becassine
I can unfortunately very much confirm this. My parents refuse to believe that sometimes the government lies or is just straight up incompetent. However no matter what we do, Anglo Canada hates us simply for existing.

Someone (I think jeff Fillion) pointed out that many quebecois still treat the government like a religious class even though the church and government are separate now, and I think that’s true
@becassine @bakubased @CSB @coolboymew @deprecated_ii @marud @ooignignoktoo @parisc @skylar Maybe convince your family that the Quebec government has been infiltrated by the English and the whole covid thing is just a way to exert more power over the French.
@parker @bakubased @becassine @CSB @marud @deprecated_ii @coolboymew @ooignignoktoo @parisc @skylar there are places that are completely open and its not like there’s the slightest indication that there’s any pandemic beyond media propaganda, so it’s hard for me to understand how people can tolerate the ridiculous restrictions some governments are imposing.

@bot
At least here where I live people are already very irritated. My family in Québéc have hardly seen any impact beyond the media (except for Radio X) of the "pandemic."

My mother had COVID but wasn't aware until she had a PCR test, so it's not like it was severe.

>hoo, boy howdy. If this covid thing goes on another 3 years and I have to get 5 more boosters, I might start to get irritated, I tell you hwat

@parker
In my area the normies are starting to awaken. Luckily my state hasn't gone full idiot and demand proof of vaccination most places.

There's nobody wearing masks here. I think only like 50-60 are vaccinated and a lot were older people/minorities who were scared of dying or had someone get it early on. Meanwhile a blue city an hour away has a mask mandate and a marginally higher rate of it, but things were still open and nobody gave a shit when I didn't wear it.

@becassine
I would say Minnesota, but as a Minnesotan please stay away from here. Our government is run by idiots and we also are the George Floyd state.
We did have a strong region of French speakers until about WW2. Some really old folks speak a dialect that is similar to the Trois Rivières accent.

In the USA as far as french Canadian enclaves that's probably Maine or Vermont.

That’s what ooigni said but I’m unclear how bad their regulations are, also it seems there are fewer and fewer French speakers over time there? In any case I consider leaving your country and people to be a last case resort
Follow

@becassine
The reason for that is that Québéc has laws protecting and preserving the French language.

Yeah here in Maine in the early 1900's the govt. was really anti-francophone and it caused a lot of immigrants to assimilate. Though there has a been a push in the past few years to try and push teaching the language in Maine through immersion schools. Though sadly I feel they're not doing it because of the descendants of french canadian immigrants but because of all the francophone africains that are being dumped here by NGO's :(

@ooignignoktoo
One of my buddies is from Louisiana, he's native francophone and he's the only other person in french class who was confused at what some words were called in France French.

French teacher: Comment s'appellent ces choses ? (Image of shoes)
JP and I: Les souliers
Teacher: non, ce sont des chaussures.
JP and I: (visible confusion)

Yeah sadly academia doesn't really teach regional dialects and they focus mostly on the français métropolitain dialect.

@ooignignoktoo
It was a very confusing time when I was told I was speaking french "wrong."
Some "wrong" things I do

Il pleut → ça pleut
Chasseurs → souliers
I've basically never used "nous" until I started french class. «On» exists and means the same thing so why not.

That’s the worst part is their refusal to consider that maybe our dialect is valid and it’s own thing

@ooignignoktoo
She only backed down when the french exchange student said "no, that's correct, you hear this is France too."
