dolphin froze and my controller turned into a vibrator, had to sigkill retroarch
cool

@chjara RetroArch moment. Tbh I can never think of a time I've used that program where it has actually justified the time and effort cost of setting it up and ironing out all the annoying edge cases.

@allison @chjara For me, RetroArch was only ever good for playing CaveStory on my phone (it was the only way to play it on Android at the time).

@xianc78 @allison @chjara the only good time to use retroarch is when nothing else works on your device. Otherwise it's a convoluted clusterfuck of a program that uses one of the worst UIs ever. The only real benefit it gives you is being able to map settings to a bunch of different emulators but that can also be a burden.

I much prefer to just use standalone emulators and tool them exactly how I want per system and very easily with my mouse instead of struggling through the dogshit xmb UI.

RA's ethics aren't exactly the greatest, either. A lot of emulator devs don't like them and want nothing to do with them.

@beardalaxy @allison @chjara Their UI is literally ripped off from the same UI that's in PlayStation consoles since the PSX (the PS2 DVR hybrid, not the PS1). I mean, if you are using a home-theater PC on your TV, I guess that's excusable, but otherwise, it is unnecessarily bloat.

@xianc78 @allison @chjara In that case just set up launchbox or even better, use steam rom manager and hook them all up to steam so you can use steam's controller api too if you really need to change things on the fly.
