@lamp pedophilic disorder isn't even diagnosed if it doesn't cause distress. pedophilia in general is incredibly sensationalized/weaponized and i would consider that a bad thing because when it gets like that, i believe it CAN cause distress. people get in their own head about it and start to freak out, maybe get depressed or do something rash. especially if there is something like childhood trauma that caused someone to think this way, or other mental issues.

even though many of my views are controversial (the circle i'm visiting just changes which ones are), i try my best to be as level-headed as possible and not let sensationalism get to me if i can help it. i feel like people wanting to kill/maim or otherwise harshly punish pedophiles are very similar to say, people who want to punch nazis or remove their rights for saying things they disagree with. two sides of the same coin. beliefs and thoughts should not be met with actions, they should be met with civilized debate, study, and philosophy.

killing or torturing someone who has technically done nothing wrong (and may have just had wrong done to them) is highly unethical and heartless from my point of view.

it's highly hypocritical when it is coming from people who advocate for free speech and to be left the fuck alone because they aren't doing anything harmful. you know that people who disagree with what you have to say would strip you of your rights (or worse) in an instant if they could, so why is it okay to do that to others?

two relevant quotes below:

Sorry try again, you destroy a child life and you want me to give you a chance to do it again or even do it. It's a very dangerous mental illness and destroy children that have 0 ways of defending themselves I'll that take burned on my back poor victims. Some things cannot be cured and if you are a pedophile I'd advise to you to cure yourself before others do it.
It's not a rabid dog's fault it contracted rabies, but it still needs to be put down regardless.

@Hoss @beardalaxy @Mackiavelli13 Is it really like rabies though? If it's merely the passive ability to get sexually aroused, I'd think it be no harder to manage than sexual attraction to adults.

I've only known one pedophile, whom said they have a "line" and only consumed lolicon content. They seemed like a perfectly fine person, but seemed to be under tension of the social stigma. I don't know them anymore, but are you saying there's a good chance they might cause harm in the future?

it always starts by small things like drugs or anything that creates dopamine. One day it will lead them to more and more . And I'd rather not let them have that chance. Such is life.

@Mackiavelli13 @lamp @Hoss that's just eugenics, which i believe is highly unethical. it's hard for me to wrap my head around the idea that some people would rather have people be killed for no more than thoughts. you are willing people to escalate those thoughts with your rhetoric. you want to believe so much that these people are going to be horrible enough to actually harm a child so that you can demonize them, rather than offering some help and preventing that from occurring. it's highly irrational.

@beardalaxy @Mackiavelli13 @lamp @Hoss I was abused as a child, a lot of people were, you have to understand that it is not a philosophical question without consequences. Rabid hate of pedophiles is a sane reaction in a society that aims to protect children. Hens don't let the foxes into the coop

@sunshinetadpole @Mackiavelli13 @lamp @Hoss i know it is a natural response to hate them. there are plenty of natural human responses that we overcome all the time because we aren't animals. we're complex beings with complex problems, caused by ourselves and the very nature of having complex thought. if we just went back to making everything about natural human responses, the world would absolutely be a worse place.

if people want to hate pedophiles, that's fine. if people want to wish death upon them, they can do that. i don't think it's helpful, though, and i think there's a lot of cognitive dissonance and hypocrisy between that and many beliefs of people who usually say this kind of stuff, solely because it involves children and that sparks up irrationality.

@beardalaxy @Mackiavelli13 @lamp @sunshinetadpole @Hoss You know it was a joke... but this is a very midwit response. "yOu KnOw I cAN PuT ANythING iN Here". Very well observed... It's just that you don't seem to get it...

@OverstepSmirkCrepe @Mackiavelli13 @lamp @sunshinetadpole @Hoss if it was meant to be sarcastic then that was completely lost on me lol so that's my bad, i genuinely cannot tell if people are being serious sometimes without an actual like satire article or something lol. it doesn't help that i'm talking to people and about people that would genuinely agree with it.

@beardalaxy @Mackiavelli13 @lamp @sunshinetadpole @Hoss It's both. It's a sort of meta-irony. I agree with the underlying point but I also injected some comedy in there by pretending the meme is somehow a legit counter argument. Hence why I said "but have you seen this meme". Is this your first time debating on the internet? We tend to do this sort of thing a lot...

@OverstepSmirkCrepe @Mackiavelli13 @lamp @sunshinetadpole @Hoss to be completely honest with you i spent way too long debating with retards on facebook and trying to talk to people like that has formed some very bad habits.

i also may or may not be slightly retarded. i'm workin on it xD
