@matana @hj it's detoxed but unmaintained so it has some bugs like not showing replies/boosts in the local timeline and not supporting new mastodon features like post editing

soapbox is probably my favorite so far, pleroma isn't very streamlined imo

@beardalaxy @matana soapbox is just a frontend, it still uses (fork of) pleroma as a backend tho.

We are working on streamlining pleroma's frontend though, we have 3 columns layout now at least and better popovers. Next release gonna be pretty nice.

@hj @matana oh yeah i know, i'm talking 'bout the pleroma frontend, i'm not a huge fan of it personally. i like the twitter-esque style of mastodon and soapbox. still better than bloat though lol

@beardalaxy @matana >twitter-esque

well, pleroma-fe is sorta like twitter as it was back in 2000s. If you have any concrete suggestions on improvements, we're all ears.

@hj @matana interesting, i never used twitter until like 2018 or so. pleroma-fe does seem a bit better than it did the last time i used it though.

is there an easy way to view a post on its original instance? on mastodon you can click the timestamp and it'll take you there, whereas clicking in the empty area on the post will expand it to show the replies and such.

@beardalaxy @matana on pleroma-fe you need to open the dots menu, clicking the + icon will expand thread inline and clicking timestamp will open the thread view. We are thinking about changing it a bit however, as it's not very good on mobile. Maybe 2.6.0 will focus on mobile experience in general.
@beardalaxy @matana pleroma-fe is sorta based on (design/ui wise) on qvitter, which is a frontend for GNU/Social, which itself is based on old twitter UI as i mentioned, it looked something like this:

you might see where the design language comes from, but nowadays it's much different, and we're constantly improving.
